PIA Automation is an internationally positioned group of companies and offers technically complex automation solutions. Its business areas include mobility, industrial and consumer goods, as well as healthcare. The healthcare sector in particular requires an uncompromising willingness to perform at the highest level in order to achieve maximum patient safety and quality standards.

PIA is not only aware of its social responsibility, but if required we make our automation expertise in the medical sector available for the benefit of the population as an active partner of the healthcare industry. PIA is currently supporting the authorities in the fight against the novel coronavirus in China.

The outbreak of the virus led to a serious shortage of disposable medical masks in just a few days. PIA Ningbo has therefore made a quick decision to purchase two abandoned production lines from a Chinese medical device manufacturer in order to develop them into fully automated lines for the production of surgical face masks. A team of 24 specialists are now working around the clock to complete the modification within the next 2 to 3 weeks. With a production volume of up to 200,000 masks per day, the two modernized facilities will help to massively improve the urgently needed medical care, especially in Zhejiang province. "With these measures, we want to provide fast and effective support to the medical professionals at the front line and the people in the affected regions", reports Haoyong Huang (PIA Ningbo, Deputy General Manager).

PIA Ningbo will provide the produced masks to the government of Ningbo City, which will arrange the distribution.
