With approximately 3,200 members, the VDMA, The Mechanical Engineering Industry Association, is the largest network organization and is an essential agent for mechanical engineering within Germany and Europe. The Integrated Assembly Solutions (IAS) department, with more than 135 members, represents the assembly and handling technology industry. From turbochargers to the electric toothbrush, almost all objects that consist of many individual parts are mounted on complex special machinery. In addition to an already existing membership, PIA Automation now has another element in common with the VDMA.

On September 28th and 29th 2018, the general assembly of the VDMA Robotics + Automation took place in Wiesbaden. More than 130 participants dealt with topics such as digitization, AI and e-mobility. As per the norm, the assembly also elected new board members. Johannes Linden, CEO of PIA Automation, was elected as a new board member to the VDMA IAS. Together with 5 other company representatives, Mr. Linden will be in charge of the IAS department from 2018 thru 2021. Looking forward to his new role Mr. Linden states, "It is an honor for me, together with colleagues from the Executive Board, to identify the relevant topics within our industry. Jointly developed positions will then be able to contribute to the benefit of our industry and to each member." As Chairman of the Management Board within the PIA Group and with an international network of companies offering technically complex and economically mature automation solutions, Johannes Linden has the relevant expertise that will benefit VDMA members.
