Dual training at PIA

The Industry has a concerning shortage of skilled workers and technicians for years. One solution to this problem is dual training, as practiced in Germany and Austria, for example. PIA Automation also relies on this model: Young specialists - PIA's Next Generation - are trained and promoted in their own company.

The lack of qualified skilled workers is a major issue for PIA. Therefore, one of the Automations company’s main focuses is on apprentice training. The job market today is more competitive than ever: If you don't find the right people, you have to train them yourself. "One thing you must not forget: We at PIA need highly specialized employees who are not readily available. Our apprentices are our foundation and our future. That's also why the following goal has been set: PIA should continue to take on apprentices and become the top training company in the region in terms of quality," reports the CEO of the PIA Group, Johannes Linden. The focus of the training is primarily in the fields of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, machining technology and technical product design.

"PIA's goal is to become the top training company in the region in terms of quality."

In September 2020, another group of 13 young people - including 3 young women- started their training at the PIA locations in Amberg, Bad Neustadt and Grambach. In Bad Neustadt the apprentice program has a special set up: PIA Automation and Preh GmbH cooperate in the basic training. This means that the trainees pass through different stations at PIA and Preh and both companies support each other - everyone benefits from the resulting exchange of knowledge.

Asked which skills are sought after at PIA, Johannes Linden answers as follows: "All! In our team there are different tasks for which employees with motivation and passion are needed. A real PIA athlete must therefore have the following qualities: Passion, Inspiration, Ambition. In short: PIA!" If you feel this is what you are looking for, you should take a look at PIA's career page: They are already looking for apprentices and trainees for 2021.
