PIAAUT was founded in 1989 with 4 employees. Three decades later its staff has multiplied by one hundred and the location ranks among the world’s top addresses for powertrain production systems. A good reason for the PIA management to stage a party to thank the people who have significantly contributed to this development: PIA’s staff.

When M&R Automation was founded in 1989 its goal was to develop and sell a process control system. A mere 5 years later the design and manufacturing of production and assembly systems was added. 1998 not only saw the firm’s relocation to its new company building in Grambach; it also marked the first power train project. This project – together with the company’s entry into the e-mobility market in 2008 – represented the starting point of an impressive development.

Yet PIAAUT is more than just a powertrain and e-mobilty manufacturer. For the range of topics that is Industry 4.0 PIA has established an R&D Department in Grambach a few years ago that exclusively deals with developing complete I4.0 solutions. There, following the credo of “making big data smart!”, an inter-disciplinary team of software developers, mechanical engineers and mathematicians work on intelligent products and solutions.

The impressive development of PIAAUT in the last 30 years was celebrated on 27 September in the framework of an anniversary party together with staff – the most important pillar and success factor the company has – as well as long-standing partners and companions. The anniversary party’s honorary guest, Styrian Economic Minister Barbara Eibinger-Miedl, highlighted the importance of PIAAUT for Styria as an economic location. She officially opened the staff party together with the Chair of the Board of the PIA Holding Johannes Linden and the two PIAAUT Managing Directors, Nikolaus Szlavik and Norbert Kahr. It was a party that celebrated teamwork, for only when people work together can success be achieved – as exemplified by PIAAUT for 30 years.

Prior to the staff party’s opening the Economic Minister of Styria, Barbara Eibinger-Miedl, visited the production halls with Johannes Linden, Nikolaus Szlavik and Norbert Kahr (f.l.t.r.).
