Clean room assembly from PIA

A guarantee for sterile and functional lancets in medical technology

Cleanroom assembly is a crucial process in medical technology. Lancets, which are used for blood tests and other medical applications, are produced in a cleanroom because of their direct contact inside the human body, like many other medical devices and related products.

Assembly takes place in controlled environments that are free of dust, microorganisms and other contaminants, as defined by standards from organizations such as ISO, ISPE, and other local regulatory agencies. These cleanrooms are essential to ensure the sterility and functionality of the lancets.

The PIA lancet production line has been specially developed to ensure maximum precision and efficiency in production, where the IMC drums are fed into the system and inserted into the workpiece carriers. During this production step, a presence and position check also takes place to ensure that subsequent assembly steps can be performed correctly. Four parts at a time are transferred and inserted into the drum sleeve while checking for presence and height. The lancets themselves are then inserted and pressed into place. In the final production step, vision inspection verifies that all parts are present and installed correctly, to relevant customer specifications. The line has a modular design and offers flexible customization options to meet the specific requirements of customers wishing to manufacture similar products. Equipped with the latest technology, they enable fully automated production that maximizes both quality and production speed.

Speed and safety combined

A highlight of the fully automatic PIA assembly system is the freely positionable WT transport system (workpiece carrier) measuring 160 x 60 mm. This enables efficient and precise production with little time lost to non-value-added movement and settling time after transit. With an impressive machine rate of 160 parts per minute, this system guarantees a high production capacity with consistently high quality.

"This automation solution is a complex but indispensable system in medical technology. It ensures the high quality and safety of the products that are used every day in patient care."
