Shaping the production of tomorrow with humanoid robotics

The market for humanoid robotics is rapidly gaining momentum, with experts expecting it to reach a volume of around $30 billion by 2030. By 2050, several hundred million humanoid robots are projected to be deployed across a wide range of industries worldwide.

In industrial manufacturing in particular, humanoid robots offer significant potential, whether in assembly, logistics, or environments with high product variability. These intelligent assistants could take on tasks that require a high degree of flexibility and setting them apart from traditional industrial robots, which typically operate in controlled environments and perform clearly defined, repetitive functions.

PIA Automation develops intelligent solutions for the automated manufacturing. “In recent years, the complexity of manufacturing systems has steadily increased,” says Thomas Ernst, Chief Sales Officer & Chief Technology Officer at PIA Automation. “Customers are demanding flexible and scalable systems that can handle a wide variety of product variants.” Embodied AI – the integration of artificial intelligence into physical systems – offers strong potential to address these challenges and effectively complement conventional automation solutions.

Creating added value

“Humanoid robotics has the potential to take over tasks that have so far been difficult or even impossible to automate,” Ernst explains. The company builds on decades of experience in intelligent manufacturing automation to developing its solutions. Within the new Embodied AI & Humanoid Robotics business segment, PIA experts are actively exploring potential use cases. “We understand our customers’ requirements in great detail,” says Ernst. “This deep customer and market insight also guides the development of our Embodied AI solutions. They must deliver clear added value and integrate efficiently, while ensuring safe operation within existing production environments.”

Ready for the next industrial revolution

Humanoid robots are currently in an early stage of industrial testing, but development is progressing rapidly. With its new business segment, PIA Automation is well positioned to shape this evolution. To accelerate the path to market maturity, PIA is also focusing on strategic partnerships. For example, the company collaborates with AGIBOT in China, a pioneer in Embodied AI. This partnership is now set to expand into Europe.

“Our goal is to be the first point of contact for customers when it comes to integrating innovative technologies into modern manufacturing processes,” Ernst adds. “Humanoid robotics has the potential to transform production, and at PIA we are committed to playing a key role in that transformation.”
