Innovative assembly system for razors

The production of a high-quality razor with six main and a trimmer blade is a complex process that requires maximum precision and state-of-the-art technology. PIA Automation has developed the right assembly line for this application.

The first step in the assembly process is the precise attachment of the seven blades to a base frame. The base frame is first fed to the belt, cut free, and placed on a workpiece carrier. The blades are cut and positioned precisely. Each blade is welded to the base frame with eleven laser points to ensure a stable and permanent connection. A camera checks the positions of the blades as well as the number and position of the laser joints to ensure the highest quality.

Two assembly modules for optimum production

In the second assembly module, the plastic housing of the shaver is inserted into a mounting fixture. The previously prepared frame with the blades is inserted into the housing and the trimmer blade is bent at an angle of 90°. A sliding strip is cut to length and applied during finishing. A camera check ensures compliance with quality standards.

Finally, the packaging unit is fed in and the fully assembled razor head is inserted into the packaging unit in groups of four and prepared for unloading.
