Job description

The Team Leader - Controls Engineering is a dual role: 50% function leadership and 50% programming. In the leadership capacity, the Team Leader plans and directs the controls related project responsibilities within the organization.  The Team Leader leads the technical discussion and resources in all phases of the manufacturing process from initial customer contact (RFQ) from design to testing and ensures all controls projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with the organization's established standards and objectives.

The Team Leader also designs, develops, simulates, programs, and tests sophisticated automated electronic and pneumatic control systems (mainly plc’s, HMI’s and PC’s), while following all applicable standards and procedures of PIA Automation.

Your tasks

  • Responsibility for software development
  • Development and realization of control processes, basic programs, and visualizations
  • Commissioning in house and on customer site
  • Create program and process documentation, as well as operating instructions
  • Conduct customer and system trainings in support of final acceptance
  • Training new employees
  • Active participation in project debriefing and handover

Work experience

  • Technical education in electrical engineering / automation Minimum 5 years PLC programmer in automation industry
  • Strong PLC programming (Siemens, AB, Beckhoff) skills
  • Robot competency required with Stäubli, Fanuc, Kuka, and familiarity with Motoman helpful
  • Strong knowledge of control systems
  • Independent as well as team oriented
  • Solution-orientation and creative
  • Travel required
