Job description
The Field Service Automation Engineer is a critical role within the Customer Service organization and helps coordinate and perform all on-site activity, including installation, commissioning, and service of equipment at the customer site.
Your tasks
- Install, commission, and service PIA machines at customer’s site.
- Performs modifications and retrofits onsite to existing customer equipment.
- Works from mechanical schematics, wiring diagrams, as well as written and verbal descriptions and work scopes.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and software/PLC based issues.
- Ability to take initiative and seek out critical information (and data) from the equipment and/or customer to achieve high-quality and value-added solutions.
- Be able to formulate a troubleshooting plan based on failure modes and trends.
- Documents service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records and communicates clearly to the customer while on-site.
Work experience
- Post graduate degree or certificate in either Engineering, Technology, or Industrial Automation preferred.
- 5+ years experience in automation, field service and maintenance-oriented projects
- Must be able to travel extensively in and out of the country –valid driver’s license and passport required. Estimated travel to be 70-90%.
- Ability to work flexible shifts and to adapt to changing work schedules
- Experience in electrical motors, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, robotics, vision systems, etc. and controls engineering disciplines
- Must be able to work in tight spaces and able to lift 50 lbs.
- Advanced knowledge of and experience with PLCs, HMIs, and an in-depth understanding either Beckhoff or Siemens
