The role of PLC/PC software developer is to be responsible for design, development, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance and support of new and existing software applications for control systems. Requires 40-50% travel.

  • Analyze design specifications and customer requirements
  • Prepare functional specifications
  • Control system design
  • Programming and testing of PLC’s, HMI’s, motion control and associated manufacturing equipment such as vision, RFID, scanners/readers, measurement and instrumentation equipment
  • Graphical user interface development
  • Configuration and set up of Fieldbus networks
  • PC based programming such as C++, C#, Labview, SQL for data collection/database, automation and test systems
  • Data acquisition and part data traceability programming
  • Integrate and test programs at PIA and onsite _ On-site troubleshooting and support of existing equipment
  • Writing operator and service manuals
  • Develop concepts and determine costs for proposals to customers
  • Development of Omron , Rockwell and Siemens PLC and HMI programs
  • Prepare functional descriptions of process controls and sequence of operations
  • Assist customers and/or co-workers with electrical/programming issues
  • Trouble shoot and fix minor electrical issues
  • Other duties as required


  • 3 years of control systems design and programming experience


  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering/CET with minimum 5 years of experience in related field
  • Must have a valid Ontario G Driver’s License


  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Proven programming skills using Allen Bradley, Omron, and Siemens PLC’s and HMI’s
  • Labview and database development are considered an asset
  • Fanuc and ABB robot programming are considered an asset
  • Proven control systems troubleshooting skills
  • A thorough understanding of electrical control systems for automated machinery
  • A good understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic control systems for automated machinery
  • Experience with networking and communication protocols including fieldbus networksMust have a high school diploma or GED and be in good physical condition.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills are crutial
  • Must be able to travel to local and international customer sites
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize issues
  • Team player with great attitude
  • Good analytical skills
  • Good customer service, customer relation skills
  • Able to coordinate and communicate with a diverse multi-cultural, multi-discipline workforce
